Early Childhood in Southington 2019

On Tuesday morning, May 23, 2019 the ECCS presented their annual “State of Early Childhood in Southington” update to the community.

Joanne Kelleher, Director of the ECCS, gave an overview of the state of early childhood in Southington including birth rates, childcare slots, racial/ethnicity/poverty trends, the number of children who have had a pre-school experience and school enrollment along with upcoming ECCS activities.

We discussed how the Preschool Experience Rate in Southington was over 91% for 2017 and 2018. The Statewide number is around 80% through 2015. Kristi Sadowski, Director of the Southington Library and Museum, was the guest speaker and she shared information about library usage for the community as a whole and their children’s programs.
