Children don’t raise themselves alone. Often the needs of the child reflect the needs of the family. Southington residents are fortunate to have access to a variety of organizations that provide support.
Resource Directory – The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington has provided lists of local, state, and national early childhood resources for the benefit of the greater Southington community. The Resource Directory includes health care providers and special needs support; adoption and foster care; food, economic & social service resources; and more in Southington, Plantsville, Marion, Milldale, and nearby.
Community Connections – Community is incredibly important. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and isolated, especially without a support system. Being part of a community of parents, grandparents, foster parents, or other caregivers can provide you with support, advice, and a sense of belonging.
Food & Financial Assistance – Southington and the state of Connecticut offer numerous assistance programs for individuals in need of food, financial aid, unemployment benefits, and more.
Grief & Death Support – At some point, we need to have challenging conversations with our children about death and grief. It is important that any conversations you have with your child are caring and age-appropriate; fortunately, there are many resources available to help make a difficult time a little easier.
Anti-Racism, Diversity, Acceptance – With Southington’s changing demographics, promoting and fostering acceptance of people from all backgrounds is more important than ever.
