Happy New Year!

We wish you and your family a healthy and happy 2025.

Looking back over 2024, the Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington staff and board members exhibited at over 30 community events or "office hours" around town where we connected with families. Books, materials to develop fine motor skills, or kits to support the SPARKLER mobile app were distributed at these events, with the Read to Grow Bookmobile, at the Family Resource Center and via Southington Community Services.

We held community cafes on screen usage and encouraging a play-based childhood, a mental health workshop and our annual State of Early Childhood presentation and partnered with Super Suds Laundromat on play dates and with the Southington Police Department on a car seat safety check.

The ECCS was also involved in training, conferences and advocating for young children at the State and Federal level.

We ended the year with the Southington Community YMCA's announcement that the ECCS will be receiving their Youth Development award which is presented to an individual or group who have worked to develop the potential of youth and/or teens.

Looking Ahead

Registration for preschool and kindergarten for fall of 2025 is underway or starting soon, including screenings for those children born in the fall who want a waiver to the September 1 kindergarten cut-off date.

We hope you will stop by and see us at the ECCS Office Hours at the Southington Public Library in the Children's Department from 9:30 to 12 on Wednesday, January 15th. Office hours at the library or Farmers' Market will be scheduled through the year.

The ECCS will be celebrating our Youth Development Award at the YMCA’s 96th Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration on February 19th, 2025 – 5:30pm at the Aqua Turf. Registration will open soon.

The ECCS, Southington Public Library and Southington Public School district are partnering on a 4-night The Anxious Generation Book Discussion on 1/16, 2/5, 2/19, and 3/5, with 3/12 as the snow date, all at 6:30 pm.  Register here. You can borrow a copy of The Anxious Generation from the Southington Public Library.

Your Support of the ECCS is Appreciated

If you have benefitted from the work of the Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington over the past years, please consider making a donation.

Receiving contributions from individuals like you helps support our operations and allows us to show our larger funders that there is strong community backing for this work. Did you know that the ECCS does not receive funding from the Town of Southington or the Board of Education? Our work to support the parents and caregivers of Southington’s youngest citizens is funded primarily through grants we have applied for.

There are many ways that you can support our work -
