Year in Review for 2024

Posted on January 3rd, 2025

Looking back over 2024, the Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington staff and board members exhibited at over 30 community events or “office hours” around town where we connected with families. Books, materials to develop fine motor skills, or kits to support the SPARKLER mobile app were distributed at these events, with the Read to Grow Bookmobile, at the Family Resource Center and via Southington Community Services.

We held community cafes on screen usage and encouraging a play-based childhood, a mental health workshop and our annual State of Early Childhood presentation and partnered with Super Suds Laundromat on play dates and with the Southington Police Department on a car seat safety check.

The ECCS was also involved in training, conferences and advocating for young children at the State and Federal level.

We ended the year with the Southington Community YMCA’s announcement that the ECCS will be receiving their Youth Development award which is presented to an individual or group who have worked to develop the potential of youth and/or teens.
